Marlow Halfmoon (born 2001) is an
Oklahoma-based multimedia creator, writer, and self-described
“stuff nobody cares about enthusiast.” His work draws from
roadside attractions, vintage motels, obsolete technology,
archived television, amusement culture, and the peculiar
emotional lives of places and media that other people have
stopped noticing.
He is the creator and operator of Halfmoon Amusements, currently an expanding collection of stories, videos, web projects, and future attractions. The project is represented by an eponymous green cat named Marlow, who serves as mascot, narrator, performer, and occasional public hazard.
Background
Born in 2001 and based in Oklahoma City, Halfmoon developed his creative interests through archived media, old television recordings, video games, roadside travel, and self-directed research into things that have fallen out of ordinary cultural memory. Attention to period detail, obsolete formats, and overlooked environments recurs throughout his work.
Work
Halfmoon’s projects include short fiction, videos, MIDI arrangements, character work, and deliberately old-fashioned web pages. Halfmoon Amusements is intended to grow beyond a web identity into a traveling attraction and, eventually, a collection of physical places with the same strange hospitality.
